Split - Maraboots/Stomper 98(2012) - Review

Tracklist:

Side A:

01. Maraboots - Neuski
02. Maraboots - Crepuscule

Side B

03. Stomper 98 - Ihr da Oben (Komintern Sect cover)
04. Stomper 98 - Realität (Camera Silens cover)

Maraboots and Stomper 98 are really similar in their sound. Both bands use a saxophone in their songs, and i have to say on this Split the victory on points goes to France.

The guys from Paris got the A-side and these 2 Songs are really great. Sounds like old frenchbands named Camera Silens,Komintern Sect and some Snix. Unfortunately  i don´t speak any word in french so i cannot tell you what the songs are about. But sometimes the music says enough, Maraboots is French Oi at it´s best.

The B-Side belongs to the german Oi-Legends Stomper 98. Their 2 songs are coverversions of 2 oiclassics from france translated to german. I knew these one´s before so it´s nothing special for me. And i don´t know if it´s necessary to put two already released songs on a split. Of course they are good, but in my opinion there should be at least one new song on a split EP.

UVPR is a great label, first of all. And this release is a must buy for lovers of french oi music. The B-Side is like a bonus for me, not really needed but ok.
